I'm learning... So whats the buzzing after it is shut off?
Finally brought the car home today after the ordeal with the 9 mile off the lot breakdown... Our 2010 Mini S makes a buzzing noise that sounds like a pump running for a few minutes after the car is shut off.. I was assuming that it is some sort of pump either circulating oil through the turbo or coolant through the turbo.. But then during my searches I found about 100 threads about 1st gen PS pump failures..
I have heard the fan run sometimes but this is not the fan it sounds like it is moving fluid.. At first it sounded like boiling water, then I realized that it was fluid moving.. Can anyone clarify?:impatient: |
The oil pump continues to pump oil through the turbo housing to help it cool after shut down.

Thanks, that is what I assumed.. I have always had to do silly cooldown procedures to avoid cooking the oil in past turbo cars I have owned. I had a passat 1.8t that was so bad about cooking the oil that it used to burn globs of synthetic oil that would eventually block the drain tubes..
Glad that there is a precaution on this car. |
