Barn door won't stay shut
 

The door latch for the drivers' side barn door stopped latching. This is the latch mechanism in the lower trim panel of the back hatch. I've read about the latch mechanism failing in the closed position, but not open. Is this a failure mode, or are there other things to look at before ordering a new latch mechanism?

Edit: Nevermind. The latch is actually shut in the closed position, so it can't engage. Time to order the part.

If yours is stuck open you are super lucky as normally they are stuck shut and a pain to get open to replace. We keep them in stock just because we've seen them fail before.
