R52 Damaged Sliding Mechanism

Good evening.

The plastic part circled in the image below is damaged on my roof mechanism - it’s basically snapped off at one end which means that when closing the roof it slides off the metal which is meant to hold it in place. Then once it’s off the roof sags a little on that side and the metal rubs against the metal in the rail.

I have experimented with various epoxies but it comes apart again after a few days.

Both of the plastic parts are removable so I wondered whether anyone has managed to source them as individual parts? I only need the one circled. My cable and mechanism (apart from this plastic) works fine so don’t want to replace it unless I really have to.

Any ideas?

Many thanks, Leon

3M makes several epoxies that will is any type plastic. They are a little pricey, around $30-40 but they definitely work. Do a search online. I’ve used 3M epoxy to glue metal to glass with no loss of bond.

Those things wear down, mine was bad when (ended up i replaced the cable set which fixed the other issues), i have not seen that part on its own, I tried to find something that worked and it was hard to find something that would fit those dimensions and fit. I also tired JB weld and it broke off again. I guess you would have to fab it with epoxy.
