Feel like I've just been un-robbed!
This morning, I took my car in for rear fog enabling, and DME reset. I went to Mini of Mt View. Needless to say, the estimate really pissed me off!
Peter Smee (service manager there) comped the job, because it took so little time. Thank you Peter! I'm fast to point out when I'm pissed and Mini, and I owe them recognition when I'm happy. This time, I'm happy! Matt |
There is hope for MofMW?.! Maybe?

Maybe he felt there were a number of NAM members on their way to California to have him explain his estimate.

I went in for alarm activation and programmable option change, in addition to warrantee work. Jennifer was very pleasant and told me it would be $70 for the alarm:roll:, and another $70 for the programming. After leaving, I called her to cancel the programming - it just wasn't worth $70 to only have to press the key once to open.
I also protested the 'double charge', but she claimed the systems are very different, and the alarm really does take a long time, as their expert was not in the shop. In the end, she comped the programming, and I left a happy customer... until I got home and discovered that my 'unlock on engine off' feature had been disabled.   I'm about as far away as Matt (Dr. Obnxs) so I haven't been back, and dread the interaction. "Thanks for changing my programming for free, now can you do it right?" Hopefully Jennifer will be there next time... |
Not only should they make it right but they ought to refund the original fee!
These dealers should make a file on you the first time you come in. They should have it already if you bought the car from them. It should include all the programing options you asked for at delivery. They should ask if you want any of them changed at each service. |
The DME reset blew out the user specified features.
They think they got them all back, but Peter said that if they didn't just drop by sometime to make it right. I think he's going out of his way to keep me happy, as he knows I was pretty peaved...

* The car would automatically lock itself a few minutes after being turned off (RISKY! What if I stepped out and left the keys in it?) * Just like you experienced, the car stopped unlocking automatically when I turned the engine off. I like having this option, especially for passengers riding with me (instead of having to explain the double handle pull). * The car stopped auto-locking after I accelerated past 10mph or so. I like having that feature! I ended up driving back the next day (fortunately only 20-25 mins away), and the SA took my car in to get all three features set back the way they were, while I waited. No charge of course. My SA is awesome - I even spent a minute or two trying to find a MINI manager to talk to about his fantastic service... but all I could find were stuffy BMW managers, and I had to get my butt back to the office. |
Why is it costing anything to change the dealer enabled options? When I had a BMW they changed this stuff for free until I was happen with them. It was all part of buying the car.

has anyone figured out how to just change these items yourself? With all the techies around, seems like someone would have figured out how to change this stuff. :sly:

You can buy a tool.
