OBD Connection

2006 R53

Short question…

What would cause the OBD connector to stop working? Scanner won’t read so I’m at a loss.
Recently happened, probably within the last 6 months. Had a CEL and wanted to scan for codes but no connection.
Is the connector attached to a fuse, or possibly a loose or broken wire.
Degree of difficulty 1-10

OK, so maybe not a short question

Um, maybe try a different scanner? Hard to believe the OBD2 data output port or contacts are faulty, but???

I purchased a Foxwell NT510 2 years ago which works ok however I don't much like it. Instead, I keep that in the boot plus OBDLink MX+ bluetooth scanner dongle in my glovebox, along with a dedicated Android tablet onboard as well. Tools duplicity usually trumps...

There is a 12+ power in the connector and I don’t know why I know this, and can’t point to any thread saying it, but IIRC that 12+ is fused and if the fuse goes you can’t read from it. And I think it is in the footwell fuse box.

Knowing it was working recently is a potentially good sign of it being easy. But if you've checked the common culprits, its time to pull the trim in the DS footwell and check the X15 connector. See my adventures with a non-functioning OBDII port in the link below:

How to potentially fix a non-functional OBDII port

Appreciate the responses as I am a novice when it comes to these kinds of things!
I have the Bentley manual, but it is in storage due to the current housing market and the limited space I have to keep things available…
