Hi all!

I recently acquired an ‘03 R53 - beautiful car, reminds me of my old 3 series. I decided to purchase a BMW Performance Shift **** from bavauto (https://www.bavauto.com/mini-shift-****-25110429269). Bavauto claims this particular shift **** fits the 03 Cooper S. However, upon installation the **** spins around on the lever a full 360 degrees. Is there something I may be doing wrong when installing? What do you all recommend I do? I love the looks of this shift **** and I’d really like to make it work.

Thanks for your help..

If it spins it is the wrong **** as we see this often when people try to install BMW ***** on MINIs

Had that same shift **** in my m3. It is a great unit.

Make sure you are applying enough force to "Pop" the **** on. Once its seated in that slot it will not rotate. The slots in the shifter on most bmw's should match that of the mini cooper. I know mine did.

Also take a look at the inside of the **** should look similar to your stock mini ****. If not it may not work.

Found this since my kid is a Transformer's fan. There's a ton to choose from if you want something fun. It uses an adapter that has screws that tighten to the shift lever and then the ball screws down on to the adapter. From twistedshifterz.com

interesting. The one on my R53 looks original and it spins. It's old and chrome peeling off so I ordered a OEM replacement. I hope it doesn't spin. I have pulled to current one off and there is a slat inside it that should fit into the groove on the stick, but I guess it just doesn't seat down far enough to lock in. I've tried several times lining it up and slamming it home with no luck.

This car makes you look for all sorts of fun doodads I figured if there was a way we can connect his love of sci-fi with the fun of a manual 6 speed go kart, why not!

i ordered a non threaded universal adapter in black.

It would be best to confirm with them on the kn0b thread pitch so that everything works as expected. They goofed on the order the first time since they told me they would match the threads insert in the ****, but didn’t. I believe the correct pitch is M16 since that’s the adapter thread.

Tha one you chose is definitely an awesome statement. Great choice! And thank you for your service. 👍🏼
