Interchangeable seats?
 

I have an 02 r50, found a wrecked 2007 cooper automatic with seats that have good airbags still. Will the bolt holes line up and will the airbags work? Sorry if that's a dumb question, but thanks for any advice.

I am assuming from your post the donor vehicle is a 07 R56 and not an 07 R52. That said, you will need to change the airbag connector on car's harness side to one for an R56. I have heard of folks bolting them down so guessing it should fit.


Are you able to measure the distances between each of the 4 track bolts to verify ?

15 1/2 inches Side to side.

12 1/2 inches front bolt to back bolt

There are a few threads on folks putting gen2 seats into gen1 cars, photo's and all for the mods...spend some time in search....Google as a search engine using "site search" tends to be better.

yea there was a lengthy install of gen 2 seats in a gen 1, it can be done, takes some work but everything will go together

I did it. It is not hard. The front seats need a replacement or retrofit of the airbag plugs. I opted to replace the plugs on the seat and the car. Easier that way. The rear you need the center clip bracket and the plastic pivot bushings. From the side. The bracket replaces the gen 1 version. The bolt holes line up. The side bracket needs to be drilled out to fit the plastic pivot bushing using a stepped drill bit. Then you are done.

I always liked the looks of certain gen 2 seats in a gen 1 MINI . :)
