headliner is coming off...

my headliner is coming off at the rear where it meets the back window. i've only see this on another mini that i test drove before. i have an 02 mcs, anybody have this issue and how did you fix it? does using double sided carpet tape work?

i have the same issue on the mcs i just picked up by the grab handles. i looked into the search function on google. there is a write up of how to remove the headliner and repair it .

here is one of the links

Id stop by an auto upholstery shop and have them take a look / give an estimate

this is a small job for someone who knows what they are doing and can turn into a MESS for someone who doesn't

I DIY a lot but my experiences in this area point me to a 'pro' and spending a few dollars. (I recolored the headliner on my 79 in place . . . and repaired sags ... but it is vinyl .... cloth and glue is a dangerous combination if not handled correctly ... danger in the size of the mess you can make!)

seems simple but time consuming... i'll try some shops. the headliner is getting worse, it wasn't peeling that much last week. now the whole rear area by the handle and window is coming off.

I had an issue similar to this. I used some tacky fabric glue and applied it with a small artist paintbrush. Then gently pressed the fabric back in place. It has held up for over a month so far without any sign of falling.

We have a local interior guy that will recover the entire headliner for $400. So see if you can find an interior guy that will.

THIS

The only way to properly repair a falling down headliner is to have it recovered. The foam is dry rotted and trying to reglue it is a total waste of time.

I removed my headliner board and had it recovered for a pretty decent price in OEM material.

+1
The foam is turning to dust...just like old carpet padding...
Regluing it is a waste of time...and might make the right fix harder...

Falling headliners have been a problem for years on cars as they hit 10 years old or so...and the MINI is no different than any other car with a padded and then fabric covered headliner...

I agree. However, using glue is an easy way to temporarily fix the anoyance until you have it redone.

Off topic, but I just realized you're in Atlanta... I'm in Buford. I may be in contact with you on an ecu tune once I get my Mini all put back together. Had a front-end accident I'm dealing with now tho.
