F*$% her! Oh, and she forgot to put MINI in CAPS. Research how things are meant to be in print before you work for a NEWSPAPER!
|
In North Jersey, there's way too many of them around to be trendy anyhow! The fact that it was featured in the NY Times metro section in the spring proves that point - once the Times talks about something being trendy or hip, it's played out from the standpoint of the terminally hip...
|
The article lost my attention before I got 1/2 way...
What a lame brain.. You can't tell me there is nothing better to write about in Chaicgo. How about the MINI Club? |
From the looks of her in the pic the last time she was in fashion, Antiwar protests, Pot and Burning bra's were all the rage. Oh wait that was a couple of months ago when Our troops were in Iraq.
God Bless our troops!!!!!!!!!!!! |
So if the author doesn't like things that are trendy....and she writes this in a newspaper....is she hoping to start a new trend which denounces MINI as being trendy thereby reducing its trendyness and thus making is desireable again? Very clever lass!!! People who simply consider MINI as a trend (...and that's all) don't know quat about this fantastic little car and its icon status in the automotive world.
|
Is that her in the pic? She certainly LOOKS like someone who is a major trendsetter!

I'm sure there are some people out there who bought the MINI precisely for the reasons stated in the article - attention grabbing, rare, new, whatever. Some have probably already flipped it for the next best thing out there, or grown to love the car for it's handling and character. Judging from the picture of the writer, she probably despises the whole MINI community "thing" like what we have here...

I dunno about anyone else here, but I did not buy my MINI as a fashion accessory. I could care less if it's trendy or not, in fact, I would hope that the MINI does not become the flava of da month whereupon everyone would have to have one then it becomes passe a while later and they end up as trade-ins for the next big thing.
To me, the MINI is an enthusiast's car with an unusual style thrown in by default, not the other way around. Besides, I don't accessorize well. I'm a t-shirt and jeans sort of guy. |
Oh no! what am I to do. I bought my MINI as a fashion accessory, (it looks really good when I fill it with,..nevermind) I should go out and get a Hummer now?
 |
>> >>Hey come on now...she probably loves community activities....tupperware parties...bridge.... hmm nothing wrong wit that, i like that AND i drive a mini  |

Hogwash! Having been an owner of one for 8 days and driving half way across the country, it's amazing how many people ask "What is that???" They've never even seen one before....let alone let the trend go by......and here, I live in a very trendy area - Scottsdale, AZ....and they still aren't even that common around these parts.
Sad part is though, most don't even know that's a Union Jack on the roof....I'm going to start giving mobile geography lessons from now on. |
Shouldnt she be a Michaels, buying more paper doyles to make snow flakes out of? Arts and Crafts...YAY!

Trends are for the sheep among us.
"Everyone in this room is wearing a uniform and don't kid yourself." -- Frank Zappa in concert c. 1968 I have to admit that I enjoy the attention that driving a MINI garners but I don't plan on selling mine when they become more common. Cars are for getting you from point A to point B. Everything beyond that is a frill. |
She's the same type of person that watched 101 Dalmations, got herself a cute little dotted puppy named "Pepper" and then dropped him off at the pound a year later to be put to sleep because he was no longer stylish.

Now gang, we must be mature and adult about this article. We must not ridicule and demean the author. Cruella DeVille has much too much on her mind.
