My Letter from XM

I recieved a letter from XM today and thought I'd share some of it for those who have expressed concern that old radios wouldn't work or that previous multi-year agreements wouldn't be honored. Quote:

"Rest assured that any radios or other equipment that you currently use will be fully supported, both before and after we create the new company. In fact, following the merger we expect that existing radios will be able to receive a mix of programming from both services. There will be no obligation to buy a new radio. And, as always, we will honor all existing multi-year subscription plans."

There is no big techincal issue to do as they promise, short of satellite bandwidth to transmit the extra channels. I'll take them for their word, but still worry of an inevitable price increase. The CEO for SIRIUS was on the news and even promised customers would be able to hold down costs by ordering channels ala carte. We'll see.
