Running in my first 5K road race--feet, not tires. ;-) Have fun, you guys and post pics!

comet5o4 03-03-2008 07:11 PM

Good luck on the 5K!

ushue2 03-03-2008 07:24 PM

I am planning on going. Rides on mountain roads are fun and this area will be new to me.

YELLOWMINIAZ 03-03-2008 09:21 PM

I cant make this one....I am flying back from Arizona on Friday and then seeing my daughter off... she thinks she wants to move back to Arizona.

BLUCOOPR 03-04-2008 06:11 AM

Anyone from Charlotte area doing the Asheville Drive March 8th get up with me and we will motor up there together.

wbarnhill 03-04-2008 06:16 AM

I would join, but Liz has that silly tax season thing that requires her work 23 hours a day, including Saturdays, and I'd hate to join the group with a non-MINI

Wonder if Century MINI will let me take an extended test drive... Hmmmm...

comet5o4 03-04-2008 03:20 PM

I just checked the weather for this weekend and we may run into a problem. Asheville is supposed to be getting snow this Saturday.

But the weather here changes so much that it is not 100%. So, as of now, we will still be on for Saturday. If anything changes, I will post here Friday night to say if we are still a go or if cancelled. I have work that night, so it will be a late post, between 10 and midnight.

Sorry guys, keep your fingers crossed for good weather!

The Subaru club is doing the following run:
starting at 276 north from Brevard to 215
215 to rosman with a short hop on
64 to 178 to Hwy 11 in South Carolina
then back on 276 to Brevard.

MidnightDave 03-04-2008 07:02 PM

Of course they are, they're AWD! ;-)

comet5o4 03-05-2008 08:09 PM

Ok, we'll be eating at Bridge Street Cafe & Inn ( www.bridgestreetcafe.com ). I made reservations today for all of us. Look at the lunch menu on the site to get an idea. If several of you want to get pizza instead, he said as long as I let him know by Friday, he will have an extra cook come in just to make pizza for us, and yes, in a wood-fired brick oven. Otherwise, no pizza. Lemme know!

BLUCOOPR 03-06-2008 05:54 AM

I just saw the long range forcast and they said nothing of snow? I plan on coming and think Doc will ride up to, he don't get off work til 8 that morning and we may be there by 1130 or 12. I will call you if I can't make it. I know we have been planning something for the Asheville chapter for a long time and I am pumped about it. Anyone from Charlotte we will meet at the I-85 weigh station and if its open, go to next exit turn right into BP station where we have met before we need to leave by 845. I am missing a radio anyone have it from last ride or two? We will go 85 to 74 exit Kings Mtn thru Shelby to I-26 to I-240 and patton ave in Asheville. Please let me know if your going from the Charlotte so we don't leave anyone behind. Luke

MiniRee 03-06-2008 11:06 AM

As of today, I don't have to work on Saturday, so Paul and I are planning to join in (one MINI, two humans...or one human and one sleepy teenager, depending on what time ya'll want to meet)...:)

comet5o4 03-06-2008 11:30 AM

MiniRee, we're meeting at 11am at the Ingles on Patton Ave in Asheville.

I checked the weather again today and there shouldn't be snow, but may rain on us. We're still a GO.

jlsg 03-06-2008 04:26 PM

hi everyone,
sorry but I am not going to be able to make it after all. hug the curves for me! jlsg

BLUCOOPR 03-06-2008 04:27 PM

MiniRee meet us at weigh station on I-85 just as you get off 485 onto 85, if for some reason the station is open go to next exit across river and turn right and into BP Station. We are meeting between 815-leaving about 845.

MiniRee 03-06-2008 05:58 PM

Sounds good. Will also have a Jetta with 2 occupants, if that's okay... Could you PM me your cell phone in case? I'll return PM with mine...

Since I live off Highway 5 in Rock Hill, I will probably meet ya'll in Kings Mountain where you pick up 74. You think ETA to that point at about 9am?

TurboS 03-06-2008 06:49 PM

Count Me in...need directions

Definitely count me in for a fun drive! Could you e-mail me the address where we are meeting. How far is Ashville from Charlotte. Thanks and see ya there!

comet5o4 03-06-2008 07:04 PM

TurboS, if you're coming from Charlotte, meet up with Luke at the weight station. He's BluCoopr if you don't know him.

jlsg, sorry to hear you can't make it.

All info for the drive is in the first post in this thread.

Just a reminder, this is a M2C2 Club Event, please make sure your dues are up to date. If you are not part of the club yet, I will bring applications and you can sign up at the rally.

anteken 03-07-2008 04:06 AM

Please count on Floyd and Sharon for joining up for the drive. Sounds like you have picked a great stopping point for lunch and wood-fired pizza sounds yummy.

BLUCOOPR 03-07-2008 05:04 AM

Everyone going from Charlotte, I-85 weigh station just west of 485 and if it is open, keep going across the bridge to next exit turn right and their is a BP Station that has coffee etc. We have had to use the BP the last two trips because the weigh station was open. Its approximately 2 hours to Asheville. MiniRee no cell. Sorry! If you come up 77 to 485 west and get off on 85 S you will be at the weigh station. If you want to meet us at 85/74 Kings Mtn exit we will be looking for ya. Bring walkie talkie if you have them channel 7 sub chanel 21 is the official MINI Channel. We will be leaving the WS or BP at 845 so be their we don't want to leave anyone behind. When we go through Shelby everyone wave at Trace.
