Drive belt missing

I have replaced the drive belt on my MINI twice since install of the 15% pulley. not sure why this happens. when i notice the temp gauge reading hot i pulled over and found or did not find my drive belt anywhere.

this has happened twice in the last year

Any ideas, suggestion on what to check that might cause this would be helpful.

thanks,

What size OD pulley are you running on your supercharger?

Could be a few things....The new pulley might not be aligned correctly on the Supercharger shaft and this will cause the belt to walk. Your belt tensioner could be causing the havoc. The belt is basically breaking and zing'n into oblivion since its not there at all. You could also be using the wrong size belt.

These are all things I would be checking out very closely, but of course its a pain the butt to check as you basically need to get to the pulley to check it out and that requires jacking the engine up and chances you may not be able to tell. I would probably replace the belt tensioner or the pulley. Check with whomever did the install.

The SC runs your h20 pump, so that is why you are seeing the temps rise, as your h2o pump isnt working, not too mention your alt isnt charging or the ac...and so on.

hope that helps....

Well, what I was getting at with the pulley size was that 17 and 19% pulleys are known to break belts like crazy, especially if you're still using the stock belt. That'd be the first place I looked before fiddling with tensioners and pulling off the Pulley.

10,000 miles on my 19 with no belts thrown or even any wear. my guess is a improperly installed pulley.

If you're breaking belts that much check the tensioner pulley. When the belt breaks the tensioner will crash into the drive pulley and potentially get damaged. I saw one at the local shop that got chewed up pretty bag which made it eat belts.
