Caliper Paint

Anyone found a good caliper paint match to the JCW front brakes?

Caliper paints do come in different shades so you'll need to match the color somewhat.

Various companies will make the paint but I do find that some paints are more durable and more heat resistant.

If you do track events, autocross, driving school you might want to use the more expensive brands rather than the cheapest ones.

If you do only street driving you can use any brand with a color that matches.

Whether or not the color matches you'll have to try it out on a test area or piece of metal.

You can do small touch up painting on scratches without much trouble even if the color is not quite a match. I favor a color slightly lighter in shade as heat will make that color darker over time.

Additional touch ups may be needed.

I have painted my Calipers red three times using Duplicolor and in the beginning they were bright red but over time will get dull and dark the more time I spend at track speeds. Sometimes paint gets old and some chips off but mostly it discolors to a black brown.

Other brands of caliper paint may hold up better.

If you are repainting the entire caliper then use a high quality more expensive paint and just paint around the JCW lettering and logo.

The G2 paint seems to hold up well (it's a two-part system with hardener). My paint job is new, but they warrant the paint to last for quite a while... and others who have used this have given good long term feedback. I also confirmed with them that you can mix G2 colors to get "in between" colors if needed... though that gets pretty expensive pretty fast... for a while there I was thinking about mixing something approximating Cool Blue, but I decided on standard red instead...

My write up is in my blog.
