Stripes, anyone ever have them painted on? Any non-standard stripes?

Well?
I'm spec-ing my new R56 and I don't like the factory stripes that are "V" shaped nor the stick-on straight stripes. I saw one at Checkered Flag Mini in VA Beach that was a boxed "V" shape behind the hood scoop that looked pretty cool.
I'm getting a Laser Blue MCS and was thinking about either gold or chrome stripes straight down the middle of the car, about the width of the hood scoop. The gold, if I go that route, would be the reflective gold. Any opinions on that?

MiniClo had a kind of negative experience with her chrome ones. I got some black w/ chrome edge ones from Aesthetic Creations and from what folks say, I expect them to last about two years. The guy who repainted my car said he could paint stripes in a silver that would look like chrome from more than 6 feet away.
If you go with the solid color metallic vinyl that is not highly reflective, it will last a good long time. We have silver stripes from CooperFlags on my wife's Cooper and they look like new after a year and a half.
My favorite was the blue cooper with the carbon fiber hood - he painted the hood blue but masked the stripes, and when the masking was removed he had a really lightweight matching blue hood - with real carbon fiber stripes. Sweet.
