What's the best chip for a CVT equipped Cooper?
I have found that the time between shifts is long enough that I can accellerate almost just as quickly by giving it about 3/4 throttle, because it eliminates this slow shifting process. I've heard that the solution is the chip lets the engine rev higher before shifting, which lets the car be under power longer, making accelleration better. I have a ported head and cam timing for better higher rev performance, so this would certainly help me. Can I get input from anyone who has done this? -Jeffy.
I don't know if they can speed up the shifting process or speed up it's reaction time to full-throttle, but even raising full throttle shift points would still improve accelleration by keeping the car under power longer- even if you have no mods to improve high rpm performance. When I can scrounge up enough money I'll ask what they can do. Let us know how yours works. -Jeffy.
I've had a UniChip on my '03 Cooper CVT for 2 years and have increased my mileage as well as added some power to my car. I like the UniChip cuz you can take it off the car easily and therefore not get into warranty trouble with your SA, if he's that way....
