Question for owners of Britax Roundabout car seat
Question for owners of Britax Roundabout car seat
OK, yesterday I finally got around installing the Britax Roundabout (Rear facing position) in my '05 MCS
This seat is incredibly easy to install and the push button LATCH attachments make it an absolute snap
This morning I put in my 3 month old baby boy for his first ever MCS motoring trip down to his grandma's house
I loaded/unloaded him from the boot
and it worked wonders! Much, much easier than trying to placing him into the seat by climbing into the rear seat.
Very pleasant 20 minute motoring trip down the expressway.
However, I did have a little problem. Vincent feel asleep and his head was totally tilted to his left. He was still breathing fine
but that tells me that there is something wrong with the tilt angle of the roundabout seat.
Prior to placing the seat in the rear right passenger seat, I tilted back the Britax seat back as per instructions and placed it with both latch connectors. The seat is rock solid and it doesn't buldge either way when moved with my hands.
The instructions state that the ""proper"tilt angle of the Britax Roundabout car seat is 45 degrees in the rear facing position. I don't think the seat is at full 45 degree angle due to the "down slope"in the bottom seat cushion of the rear seat (Where the base rests). I am sure this is causing him to tilt sideways when he falls asleep.
I wanted to ask those of you that have used the Britax Roundabout in the MINI if you have had to place a towel underneath the seat to further increase the back rest angle or if you have used the attached "Versa-Tether"and attempt to adjust the angle of the seat by latching the metal hook to a point underneath the front passenger seat. If so, which "latching"point did you use under the front seat?
The front passenger seat is only slightly moved front past the right center pillar and the seat can still be used with the Britax in rear facing position
Is that supposed to be correct or the front seat needs to be moved further forward? It doesn't really matter because my wife always rides behind me to tend to the baby so the front seat has become ëxtra"storage area.
Any pointers, help, photos, suggestions are greatly appreciated.

I wanted to give you a bump on the thread. Does the Roundabout not have an indicator? The Graco has an indicator that lets you know it's in the right tilt range. There should be nothing but blur in the big window, and if there is any orange, then it's in the wrong position. It does seem to me that the baby was a bit upright, but the indicator was totally in the blue.
Do you have a headrest that came with the car seat?

I havn't put a roundabout into a MINI, but I have installed them in other vehicles. I would find a fixed point to attatch your versa tether and adjust the recline and angle with that. This way, you know that you have a rock solid install in your car. Good luck.
If you still have problems, you can look for a certified installer in your area. http://www.seatcheck.org/
