What are the handling effects from different offset

What type of handling effects would be experianced from going from a 52mm wheel offset to a 35mm wheel offset? Given that tire diameters and style would be the same.
Thanks, Steve

People who know more about suspension dynamics than I do have said that the farther you push out the front wheels, the better the MINI gets itself around a track.

That is interesting to me as the GP comes with the 52mm offset. To my knowledge that is the largest offset wheel of anyone I know of that came from MINI. This is what basically promped my question and I am curious as to why they went with a 52mm offset. I'm sure they are a lot smarter than I am,when it comes to suspensions, and that they had a reason for doing this because it was a specially built wheel for the GP.

The JCW wheels are also 52mm offset. MINI seems to use 52mm offset for all of their 18" wheels.

Most likely to make sure that no rubbing is experienced by the larger wheels. Obviously making higher offset wheels wasnt meant for performance, but then again....neither are 18s.

As some have mentioned....the lower offset will just give a more stable ride through the turns. I have my wheels at et35 and love it
