StopTech carbon/carbon brakes

Saw an article in one of the car mags this month where StopTech was showing off carbon/carbon rotors at SEMA...nothing on their website though and a quick search doesn't reveal a lot of news other than they'll be "competitively priced" for similar products.

Best I could find so far: http://blogs.edmunds.com/Straightline/1713

Supposedly better than similar offerings from Porsche, Mercedes, et. al. due to their use of actual carbon threads vs. "chopped" carbon particles...

Anyone out there have more info and whether or not they'll be making versions in Mini/Miata friendly sizes?

if you called stoptech they'll tell you

best i could gather was that they're still years away from real mass production, and that what you saw was just a proof of production concept and its still too expensive or still too low volume to release to the general public

something like 10k usd for a set of them, which is actually higher than using porsche brakes

and you CAN run the porsche pccb's on 18" rims on your mini, maybe even on 17" rims

look for a set of the porsche pccb's for a stock cayman, non-s, 2007, that came with the stock wheels, you can get them new from about 8k usd and on, and if you machine a bracket adapter, they'll fit fine

just like the gtt porsche brakes for the mini, gtt tuning, UK

Porsche = 5 lug; MINI = 4 lug

Do you mean a new brake rotor hat? Caliper adapter bracket is a given too I suppose....way too much work for me to try to machine on my own until I retire in a few years and have more time on my hands!
