help me double check replacement tire sizes!
help me double check replacement tire sizes!
I've tried searching to figure out which is the best size for replacement tires on the OEM 16" rims, and I've found that 205/50-16 and 205/55-16 work.
I have these rims, and I don't know what they are called so it made searching a little harder on the forums.
But anyways, I need to know which size is best to use on these rims when replacing runflats with the Yoko AVS ES100's.

205/50 is 1.5% smaller (speedo will read high) - slightly stiffer sidewall, slightly better accelleration, slightly worse mileage
205/55 is 1.8% bigger (speedo will read low) - slightly softer sidewall, slightly worse accelleration, slightly better mileage
'Best' depends on what you're looking for. Either will work just fine.
Your wheels are X-lites/V Spokes.

And thank you for telling me which OEM rims I had.
I’ve been using the AVS 100’s about 4 years now and find there a great all round performance and street tire. You can find better performance or better street tires, but the 100’s seem to work great for both.
They’re good in wet conditions and have decent tread life, but that depends on how you drive. They will get somewhat noisy near the end of the tread life, but quieter than run flats.

They are pretty grippy as I don't spin out in 1st or 2nd gear like I did with the runflats, they suck in any kind of puddle and/or ice conditions though (but what performance tire doesn't). It handles okay in rain, not as good as the runflats, but not too shabby.
I will say that they are SO MUCH better than runflats. The car doesn't feel like it's going to roll over when taking turns at 30 mph, there's still roll with the car, but that has nothing to do with the tires. I'll be playing with tire pressures soon enough.
Beware though, if you are replacing runflats, if whoever is doing is careless, you will get scruffs all over the inside of your rims. I just found out 5 mins ago when I took my wheels off to clean and wax them. :(
