Last Friday, driving home at the end of the day, my shifter went all noodley on me and I was left with 3rd and 4th gear. I made it to a safe place to stop and checked out the situation.

It was'nt the infamous MC shift linkage problem (I've had that one taken care of) it was a different part of the linkage system just under the battery. Roadside Assistance took my car to Schomp where Anthony discovered that the battery vent was blocked and battery acid had leaked onto the linkage and corroded part of it.

I haven't had a chance to get in there and check things out.

 

The battery on the MC is not located in the back like an MCS??

 

nope it is under the bonnet

 

Cooper has a spare tire and tool kit back there

 

The shift linkage went out again! My MINI is enrout to the shop so there has not been an official diagnosis. Symptoms are the same - no first or second gear. Has anybody else had this problem come up?
