Stock Problems/IssuesDiscussions related to warranty related issues and repairs, or other problems with the OEM parts and software for MINI Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs.
My MCS is going in for its second major service (at about 32K miles) tomorrow. It's been a pretty trouble-free car, but is about to come off warranty next month and I'd like to make sure that the dealership checks all the right items -- and repairs anything that's covered -- before that happens.
Has anyone put together a list of things that should be checked out for the second service?
They should do your brake/clutch fluid but rarely do. It is a mistake. You are also close to needing the coolant changed but they make 5 year fluid just to get past the 4 year warranty. Do power steering fluid too.
You can check your owners manual for the included items. Anything beyond that will cost you.
Yes, but what I'm getting at is something like this. Perhaps there's something that's covered under the "full maintenance" program but that they don't normally check at the second service -- maybe the brake rotors, for example. In that case I should ask them to check the rotors so that they would be replaced before the warranty / full maintenance expires next month... I was hoping that a list of such likely-to-need-replacing items existed.
