Healdsburg-Point Arena Run 02/03/07
Healdsburg-Point Arena Run 02/03/07
This is going to be a fabulous run from Healdsburg into Mendocino County and back to Healdsburg. We will leave Healdsburg after having coffee at one of the many coffee shops on the Healdsburg Square at 9:30am. I recommend Flying Goat, but any will do to help with your coffee addiction.
We will have Lunch in Point Arena at about noon. there are two restaurants and a deli in town so take your choice. After lunch we will drive up to Peak Hill Road Air Force Base (refer to pages 102-103). Now abandoned it was part of the US Cold War Defense Radar locations. This will be a photo opportunity in a now lost military base... what horror stories or cheap Sci-Fi movies are made of. I have to assume that no restrooms are available at this stop.
After our photo op, we will drive back to Healdsburg arriving around 4:30pm. Those wishing to stay in town can meet at The Bear Republic Brewery or many of the other nearby restaurants for dinner. (RSVP) (MAP)

We have 22 cars signed up to date for this run!
This is going to be on fantastic roads starting in the heart of the California Wine Country, through the Coastal Mountain Range down SR-1 and back thru twisties on some of the club's favorite roads. The highlight of this 182 mile run is a visit to the Peak Hill Air Force Base, lunch on the coast in Point Arena, and dinner in Healdsburg.
Yes, this is an all-day event! You won't want to miss this run!
