Detailing Day in Ballantyne
Detailing Day in Ballantyne
Many of us were disappointed that the Zaino Clinic got cancelled at the last minute. A few of us are planning to go ahead and detail our cars anyway, possibly this upcoming Saturday if weather permits.
I can host and demonstrate the Zaino process where I live at my apartment in Ballantyne, but it won't be indoors. I have all the equipment necessary--just need to bring your own Zaino supplies and such.
It takes several hours to do right, and I can likely accomodate a half-dozen cars or so.
Reply to this post if you are interested this Saturday.

Tarzan....
Thanks for doing this...sounds like a great thing...but, I will have guests in town. If not I would join you in this.
Sorry I did not get up with you Zaino weekend, I did not get the message until Sat. night. On Saturday night, I was ready to put my Zaino up for sale in NAM!!!! I wish I could return it though!
Oh well...thanks for hosting this, and I know that you will let people use your pop-up tent to detail their car!!!
If anyone has the detail equipment it would be you!

Saturday
I'll keep everyone posted on an alternative date, as consensus seems to be going against this upcoming Saturday. My work schedule is pretty hectic, but recently I have been getting either Saturday or Sunday off--I just never know which that far in advance.
Thanks PWJCW Dave! Don't get rid of your Zaino!!! Even without the clinic, if you want to give it a try on your own, you can go to the www.zainobros.com website and print out instructions, and there are tons of tips in the detailing forums (and we're always here to help). Just don't buy your products from the website--buy them from Steve Treece at Ultrashield of Charlotte/Carolina Shine http://www.zainocharlotte.com/ who's the local distributor here in Charlotte, and supports our club in so many ways (this is part of his livelihood).

Hey...if you plan on a later date...I might have to join you so I can learn how to use this stuff...
I opened it before one of the car shows to play with the Zaino product, but I just don't feel like I did a good enough job. If I had not opened it, I would definitely have returned it. I just don't feel that is good business practice to cancel something less then 24 hrs. before the actual show. I even had individuals (non-MINI's) that I had influenced to attend due to the number of drop outs. I think the product is cheaper online as well (I paid more for my "package" thru steve and did not receive all of the products).
I want to order some of the other Zaino stuff for your event (wheels, plastic)...so maybe I might have a better finish then you! (I doubt it though)!

Pwjcw,
If you ever want or need help using Zaino, please send me a pm, email, or give me a call. I can show you how to use it properly, and I won't charge you a dime to do so.
As for the cancelling of the Zaino clinic, I agreed with Steve, George, etc. that it should've been cancelled because of all the people who backed out at the last minute. I understand that it threw some people's plans off that weekend, but Steve does this as a business, and it wouldn't have been worth Steve's time to have the clinic with only 8 or 9 participants. There weren't any postings on the Zaino clinic thread about others attending/participating to fill up any of the empty slots, and the decision to cancel was based on the number of people who were listed on the thread.
Again, I apologize that the event got cancelled, but I have spoken to Steve about a few alternatives in the near future. I am trying to organize another Zaino clinic in the spring. In addition to that, I've also been thinking about having an open house or drop-in type of event, where we would use one car as an example, and clean it from start to finish. Several others could attend, and the goal would be for everyone to learn some Zaino-specific detailing techniques, general detailing tips & tricks, etc.
As for the Zaino pricing, I know that Steve's prices are cheaper than the Zaino website, as you don't have to pay the $7.95 or $8.95 shipping that the Zaino website charges. If you bought a "package" (or 1 of the kits as they are listed on the Zaino website) and you didn't get everything, you should mention that to Steve, as it was probably a mistake. Also, the DF towel microfiber prices that Steve had posted for the clinic were even cheaper than normal, too.
