R50/53 hey
hey
Hi m about to get a 2003 mini s with 47k it is about to run out of warranty im going to buy it but i am concerned if i should get the extended warranty? is there an extended warranty from mini? im concerned becouse ive read a couple post about bad trannys and i dont want that to happen to me....is the mini expense to maintain?
Ken, piff has 3,000 left (48 mos, 50,000k).
I'd schedule an appt. with a dealer to have to looked over for any repairs. Have the ECU scanned for any codes that may have been thrown (for example, I've had an oil pressure sensor go and the SES light only came on briefly then disappeared).
I believe there is a service bulletin about a rattling neutral relay in the trans (sounds like gravel rattling around the trans in cold weather).
The other stuff that tends to go wrong would be obvious, such as rusting rocker panels, window motors, door locks, etc.
Enjoy your MINI!

You'll pay nothing for any repairs since you are under warranty. If you have any scheduled maintenance done (such as an oil change) you'll pay for that.
I can't help you with the extended warranty issue, but there has been some discussion on that topic in the past.
