Conventional Summer Performance vs All Season Run-Flats...

....on cold winter wet/dry roads.... which is better? (Note: this is not a snow/ice question, I have another AWD w/4 dedicated winter tires for that.)

Will the softer compound of an all season more than offset the better footprint/water dispersion of an performance tire on cold wet/dry (but non snow/ice) roads? Do summer performance tires turn into rock-hard hockey pucks on dry roads in the cold?
