Performance Clutch: Centerforce vs Spec

Centerforce or Spec Clutch?

I am not looking to make too many mods to my MC, but I have the tranny opened anyway because of a busted throw out bearing, so I might as well put a better clutch in, since I have about 87,000 mi on it (about 40,000 on the tranny). I won't be exceeding 130 hp. This is is a daily driver, although it tends to be a very fast and rough drive with me behind the wheel. I'm looking for a good stage 1 or 2 clutch that will hold up to the abuse but still be comfortable, not to grabby, and bearable in traffic. I am not limited to these 2 brands, these just seem to be the most prevalent clutches around. If anyone knows of a better brand with better quality that is NOT $500 for a clutch kit, please let me know. I don't have enough power to justify spending so much on a clutch. I am looking to spend about $400 or less.

Any input would be great! and preferably soon, because I need to put the car back together so that I can drive it.

This is a great question. I anticipate upgrading at some point in the next year or so (I'm currently at just under 125 WHP on my Cooper and feel that the clutch is not the weak link). I don't have a recommendation, but I'm going to watch this thread with interest.

Hi have the Spec stage 2 clutch and flywheel.

I thought performance clutches are more challenging to drive, but driving is smoother then before! Clutch is soft, gear engagement is smooth! Revs faster too!

I've heard that there are noises at idle, does yours make any sound? (I guess I'll find out in a couple of days anyway right Randy )
