MINI Rear Side Panel Speaker Sizes
Hey I am still considering speakers for my 2006 MCS, I need to know if these 6X9s will fit the rear...I can't find any source that will tell me....there are some real bargains on ebay for these...
Boston Acoustics NX97
Boston Acoustics S953
Anyone know? I am wondering about total fit of the magnets and top of the speaker into the side panel.
Thanks.
Also anyone want to tell me what brands you have installed for aftermarket speakers? Any JL fans out there? MB Quart, etc....I want to know what fits properly and sound great...I plan to use Boston Acoustics in the front doors and a subwoofer of some sort...still undecided.

I just put in the JL Audio Stealthbox sub(1-10W3). I highly recommend it. Sound is fantastic and it looks very clean since they make it specifically to fit the MINI boot. I don't have any experience with speakers at the moment...mine are all still stock speakers from the factory. I've been pretty impressed with the stock speakers. Never cared for the Harmon Kardon upgrade.
I have Boston Acoustics 6.5" components in the doors, and 6x9s in the rear panels. I forget the model number exactly... not sure if it's one of those you listed, though.
I also have a JL Stealthbox like weezer... it hits pretty hard, but there are a few times I miss my old bandpass box from a while back (I tihnk it hit a little lower than the Stealthbox's 10" sealed sub, but my memory could be fogged a bit as it's been several years...). Overall, though, I'm pretty happy -- it just needed some extra tuning on the amp to get the gain/crossover/etc. set to where I like it.

Both should fit but you'll probably have to bottom mount them for the tweeters to not push against the panel. Depth really isn't an issue there is a good about of space between the speaker mount and the outside skin of the car.

I just recently put in ( friday Oct 13th acutally) a set of Dragster 6x9's in my rear panels the top end model which has a huge deep magnet and there was no depth issues at all so I would say you are safe with pretty much any 6x9 as far as fitment goes. I also used brown bag insulation for better sound hope this helps and good luck!

I first put Tangband 6X9 sub woofers on a seperate amp in this location.
Big improvement!
Then I thought, if this is good, bigger would be better, right?
So I put a 400 watt amp under the drivers seat that drives 8" subs where the 6X9's used to be. I completely fiberglassed the inside of the cavity and applied sound deadner. that space is now a 1 cubic foot sealed enclosure.
No boot space used. No visible expensive audio gear. Sound? Incredible!!
I now have added an Alpine head unit with seperate 400 watt Alpine amp under the passenger seat. It drives 6.5' CDT componet fronts.
A MINI needs to sound good as well as look good.
Cheers, Ann
