JCW GarageInterested in John Cooper Works (JCW) parts for your 1st Generation MINI? This is where JCW upgrades and accessories for the Cooper (R50), Cabrio (R52), and Cooper S (R53) MINIs are discussed.
I just got a JCW Intake for my MCS (picking it up Friday!!!) and I see that they've plugged the small circular hole on the back of it. My thought is that since the hole is still there on the plastic piece that it sits against why not take the blocker out? I mean, more air is better right? Anyone do this to theirs?
Opening the hole will let a bit more noise out, but will do nothing for performance, as the engine gets all it needs through the intake tube up to 4500 rpm.
Yes, it's open on the stock box, but the JCW comes with a plastic disc stuffed in the rubber bit to close it off. All I did was pull the disc out and it matched the lower half of the stock box. (Figured it couldn't hurt )
