We have had our MINI for about a month, and I’ve been checking out many of the previous posts about . . . everything – wow, what a wealth of information this Forum is !. So this is only my second post, I've been reading see?

We live in Northwestern VA about 9 miles from Skyline Drive (Drive it, you’ll like it).

I commute 140 mi per day into the DC area, and I’m waiting for my Saturn (230K mi) to get tired so I can retire it and maybe get another MINI (My wife drives the MINI daily – and I have to wait till the weekends . . . dangit! :impatient)

We have an 05 MC Convertible (“Hercule”) weve added bonnet stripes and union jack mirror caps.
My question is about color – The tag under the bonnet says “Midnight Black Metallic”, and so far I have not seen this black color mentioned in other posts – Is it an uncommon color, or is it called something else ? just curious.

It could be what they call your color in the UK. I have a Purple Haze MCS and my tag says Black Eye Purple Metallic.

 

I believe that is the same as Astro Black. (Do a search in the Astro Black registry thread.)

 

Thanks for the input, I will definitely do some reading on that. The UK 's names are certainly creative - Black Eye Purple Metallic you say? -cool-

FYI: Purple Haze is also called Black Eye Purple in Canada. This would explain why I've seen more colours mentioned on here than I've seen on the streets. I had thought there were 4 silvers but I guess it's just the same two with two different names.
BTW Black Eye Purple looks great in the sun when it's clean and polished.
