I just saw an auction for a set of new 16" x-lite and Dunlops all-seasons sell for $770 + 150 shipping. Is that realistic or just an auction that went crazy? I've looked on this site and most people are asking for in the neighborhood of $400. I have a MCS on order with the same tires and wheels that were sold, if I could get about $700 I would consider getting a set of lighter wheels and tires and swapping out when my car gets here.

When I bought my replacement X-lite (R84) from Classic a few years back it was around $150. That would $600 for just rims. Add the tires, shipping, and $850 isn't such a bad deal. Will may people pay that? Seems like around $400-$500 is the sweet spot. Few people really want the tires, its mostly the rims they are after.

 

I won mine on ebay for $464 + shipping.
Would not have bid anywhere near $770!

 

It was an auction gone mad. But that happens on ebay. I've seen Slite takeoffs go for $1200!
I got my Xlite takeoffs for $400 from a local source. I'd agree $4-500 is 'normal'.
Then again, given that you're purchasing a new car, will a few hundred dollars really make a difference?
