Navigation & Audio Kenwood USB stereos(looking for mp3 solution)

Kenwood USB stereos(looking for mp3 solution)
Anyone have any experience with Kenwood usb stereos, particularly the kdc-x590.
I'm trying to find a way to listen to MP3s, have the ID3 tags display on the head unit, have the steering wheel controls work, and be able to navigate folders(including subfolders) or artist and then album.
I was thinking to get the kenwood stereo and then get a large flash drive(4GB) or try a microdrive(20gb) and see if that would work.
Would the dension icelink work how I want it with an ipod or no? I've been looking at that but can't find a description that I will definitely get all those features.
