I'm a bad, baaad, girl

So I spent the day with my girlfriend. We had lunch, did a little shopping, general girl stuff. Went to go pick up the kids from school and took the freeway offramp and a decent clip (about 10 miles slower than I usually do since she is freaky about driving) - but hang-onto-the-door-or-you'll-be-in-my-lap speed - and I did it on purpose, just to give her a ride. Poor thing, she wanted to cover her face but she couldn't let go of the door. I was still giggling like a fiend, though. Am I going to a hot place after I die?

Who else has scared the bejeezees out of a passenger "just because you could?" Let's visit that hot place together!

I do the same exact thing and all my friends "love" me for it! I think it's a requirement once you buy a MINI that you must take all curves at an unhealthy speed.

that reminds me of the BMW film with Clive Owen and Madonna driving the M5...

While I haven't scared my passengers too much, I have made them a little nervous by taking corners faster than they're used to. Its great! Wakes them up a little...

Haha, me me me! I always drive a little slower with passengers on board, otherwise if the coast is clear (or roads rather) I always corner at 0.7g or higher (I have a g meter for fun!).

The MINI made me do it!

Most days, I have to get onto I-65 from University Avenue in Birmingham.

There is always slow traffic going up the on ramp, and the climb up the ramp makes them go even slower.

My trick is to make my left turn onto the on ramp and then creep very slowly for about 15 seconds (not caring what the minivan or SUV behind me thinks).

Then, of course, I floor it, leaving the slow SUV's and MINIvans lumbering up the ramp while I enjoy my slingshot entrance to the highway.

It is just one of those small things that makes an annoying commute a little more enjoyable.

Thats a good start Sounds like your a good driver

But you got a way to go.

It dont REALLY count until your at 10/10s, and the car starts to understeer into the guardrail and you don't know quite what to do to recover
Then you learn the meaning of , wonder if your insurance is paid up, and start yelling at yourself for not adding that bigger rear sway bar. (BTW, I'm not making htat up ... I did exactly that in my SUV ... yes SUV ... and quickly learned that understeer is a bad thing, four wheel drive or not. Guardrails WILL leave a mark.

Hubby is probably going to get me an Alta rear sway and M7 USS for my birthday. Shoot. Who needs jewelry?

That off-ramp can be tricky. Rob (my husband) saw some guy totally miss it (the officer who arrived found out he fell asleep at the wheel and he woke up thinking he was at some other exit) and he went airborn (sp?) crossing five lanes of traffic. He landed on a fence about 20 feet from the edge of the road.

It's just such a nice, prettily banked curve...

I have a favorite on ramp that is posted at 30 MPH. When I have it to myself I take it at XX MPH. The Gs rock!!

The XXs are to prevent the dreaded LOCK.

I've got an on-ramp that I like. Nice bank, opens out into it's own lane. I've made myself physically queasy taking that one.

Hey, how do you get two quotes into one message? I don't want to be posting a jillion times in my own thread!

Just the other day I drove a coworker and myself to Olympics National Park, where there was a very fun road. I guess I was taking the turns a little faster than he was used to, cause he used some words I can't repeat on here. What's even more fun than scaring your friends, is scaring people who don't know you all that well, and probably don't trust you much.

Anytime I have a new passenger in the MINI for the first time, I always like to show them where the grab handles are, and how to lock their seatbelt. I love the looks I get.

At MOTD I have given 4 people rides through the dragon. All 4 were carsick within 3 miles. One of my victims is a 22 year veteran police officer, the other is a hotrodder from way back. In their defense, the passenger seat of a mini is a scary place to be if you don't know the abilities of the car and the driver.
