First post. Mini always on my mind...

As this is my very first post ever on any forum , it took me awhile to get up the nerve to announce that I ORDERED A MINI and imagining not being behind the wheel until early November is driving my CRAZY! It's always on my mind. I had a 320i years ago and the first test drive I had in the MCS sooo reminded me of the same (but more fun) feeling! Do I sound excited?!

Welcome to NAM! You should have lots of fun motoring in your neck of the woods, once your MINI finally arrives!

A late welcome here, but Welcome!
I work in an elementary school and this week is is our pre-planning, set up, meetings, etc. I have had almost no time on NAM or in El Kabong, sacrilege!
Love the RG/S combo, can't wait to see pics when you get it, will you be naming your MINI?

Thank you Annette! I imagine I'll be naming it, but will wait until it comes from the car. I haven't had a car that wanted a name for awhile. My very first car (way back in '68) was a Datsun 510 station wagon that I called KARMA (the license plate was KARMA1.) But no other car since then has had a real name... But there's something about a MINI that oozes personality. We shall see.

I find myself scanning the traffic constantly now just to spot MINIs. They are few and far between. And I've only seen one that was RG on the road, and it turned my head so fast that it was emblazoned in my mind when I went MINI shopping. I also added chrome mirrors to give it a little extra pop. I will definitely be taking lots of pics when I get it; we'll have to wait until early November from what I understand.

What's El Kabong? Enlighten me please!

El Kabong is from the old Quick Draw McGraw cartoon. Quick Draw had an alter-ego that he would turn into when things got particularly hairy. El Kabong would swing through the air and hit "ze bad guy" on the head with his guitar which made a kabong sound. When my MINI first came home I was trying to think of a name and I told my son and my brother I wanted something that was funny, yet superhero-like and my son (who had just seen an old episode of Quick Draw McGraw on the Boomerang channel) said the the PW/B combo looked like El Kabong with his cape, hence the name! I really had it in my mind that I wanted something British sounding, but when the right name is found you just have to go with it!
You'll know it if it happens.

That's so funny! I know El Kabong the character, but never really knew his name. And when I read your last post I didn't really register the graphics in your clever signature line, but read that you hadn't spent any time in NAM or El Kabong... and I thought maybe El Kabong was another forum for MINIs or something! Hmmm... maybe that would be a good thread on close calls where MINIs were able to maneuver quickly to avoid a near El Kabong experience.

Having a lazy laundry Sunday. Kristin

Welcome to NAM! My other car is a BMW 330ci. The BMW is nice but compared to the Mini, the steering in the 330ci feels slow and over-boosted. Once you get used to the way a Mini handles, anything else feels like a Buick.

I can't wait! I've been driving an Avalon XLS for the last 6 years, carting kids around. Now that my oldest has her own car, I can get sporty and small again!
