I have a JL weekend racers MCS that had a checkerboard roof. I actually swapped roofs with a JL MC so that I have a deep metallic blue MCS with a black roof now. Until I saw a real checkmate in person, that was the color combo I thought I wanted.

If there aren't any checkmate die cast models anywhere, I'd consider painting the roof silver. Apart from decals, I'm not sure how I'd replicate the checkmate graphics and bonnet stripe.

 

Well, it's not an MCS and it's 1:32, but it's a checkmate!
