Replacing oem Speakers

I'm ready to replace the basic speakers in my S and was wondering what tips some of you may have. I believe the stock harness has a plug that plugs into a recepticle in each speaker which my new speakers don't have and was wondering if there are adapters or do you just cut them and put press on fittings or soldered ends?
Regards,
Mike

i just cut up the factory speakers and used it as a spacer. i salvaged the connector portion, soldered new wires from the plug to the Polk 525's and
just plugged the harness. the factory speaker harness was unaltered.
