I received a phone call yesterday from the dealership in Charleston, SC inquiring if I was still in the market for a MINI because they received an "unexpected" allocation. I explained that I was in the market for an S and was told by them that I would have to wait for the 2003 model to arrive sometime in December. I called around and found one of what I wanted at another dealer (and should be getting it today!). The sales person explained that they had in fact received a NUMBER of Ss that were available and started rambling off colors that they had received. So...if you are looking for an S, you might be able to get one in Charleston, SC.

 

The MINI dealership here in Charleston, SC, is great. I bought my Cooper S off the lot two weeks ago. There is a link to them on my MINI's site - see my signature. Martha is great there, and they do not bump prices over MSRP.

They were good to work with. Unfortunately, they couldn't get the car that I wanted because their 2002 allocation was gone (so it seemed) so I had to look elsewhere. I would have liked to have bought my MINI from them.

 

Thanks for the tip on Mini of Charleston. I called and bought a Yellow S which I will pick-up on Saturday. Martha and Doug were very helpful. It's a 230 mile drive from Charlotte but what the heck, it's better than waiting 10 months!! Will post delivery experience on Monday.

Glad you got it! That is great! Too bad it is leaving the area and going to Charlotte though. Just kidding man, congratulations.

 

I picked the yellow and black Mini up Saturday as planned. Doug and Martha were great to deal with. the car was exactly as discribed with only the $169 "administrative fee" as the mark-up but they had told me about that right off on the phone. They had a bunch of Coopers available but this was the last S on the lot. Lucky me! Now I have to fight the wife for driving rights.

Just heard from Martha at Rick Hendricks that they have gotten in more Ss! So, on the lot right now they have available two base Pure Silver S's and two base Red S's and then two Yellows S's w/white tops and 16"wheels only.

Can't understand why they have them when nobody else does. But, if you want one, they have them.
