My (not so) vintage original Mini Sportpack 1.3i
Hey, I just wanted to introduce myself. While I do love the new BMW MINIs, I have always wanted an original Michael-Caine-in-the-1969-"Italian-Job" Mini Cooper,... So I finally bought one. I have yet to name it (we'll see if it is a he or a she); in fact, I have yet to drive it or see it. I am currently deployed to Afghanistan, and I had my parents pick it up for me. I will be in it blazing the back highways of the Ozarks during my leave, May 17th -June 1st. Then it's back to the 'Stan, and I have to put it away again until February of 2007.

Thanks all! Afghanistan is not nearly as hard of a deployment as you might think, but we are working hard at seeking out the "bad guys." Many missions have taken place, and many potential bombers have been taken into custody since I have been here, so we are doing what we can. We get rocket and mortar attacks every month or more, but they usually miss,... and give away their position.
And yes, this Mini was on Ebay until Thursday last week. Nothing a little "Buy-it-now" can't fix. It's already paid for and going on a transporter tomorrow
The seller was actually quite helpful and has a few other Classic Minis on ebay as well. I was tempted by this one HERE, which is from the same seller, but figured I should go all out and get the Sportpack with white roof and stripes and my favorite car color: British Racing Green
If anybody is interested in life over here, you can check out my blog HERE. Unfortunatly for most of you, I spend most of it talking about my running training, but if you look back a page or two, you will see some great photos of the area I am at in the 'Stan. Thanks for the warm welcome!

Oh, BTW, I am from Russellville, Arkansas originally. I live on secenic HW7, and I can go south through the Ouachitas, or north through the Ozarks. I've been drifting those roads for years in my Triumph Spitfire, then my Miata, then my Triumph Bonneville, and now this...
