MightyDread is worried about water getting to the ECU...

We checked it earlier today, and the Alta heatshield kind of wraps around the ECU cover, where the Pilo one stops right besides it.

We all know removing the "back-panel" gets more fresh air to the intake filter, but any risks of removing it on a Pilo intake?

Thanks guys for any help!

I have the Pilo and instead of removing the panel. I added a hole to it to see if I could get more performance. I have not noticed an increase in performance, maybe 1/2 hp if I put it on a dyno , but the sound is closer to what an Alta sounds like. I have not noticed any water even when washing the car and intentionally spraying water in the cowl vent.

So I guess completely removing it on a Pilo is just like with a Alta kit...?

On my car, with the Alta intake, I removed it, and there's no water coming in at all... The only worry of MightyDread is that water might get into the ECU from the windshield vent.

I guess the only way to get water in there would be to drive in reverse, at 6000RPM+

That, and have someone on the hood spraying water into the vent.

I'm not saying it will not see water with the partition completely removed. Just that with the way I did, I'm not seeing any water.

Look in the "used" section. Alternatively, here's a DIY from Webb Motorsports from some time ago:
