v2.7 Nav update with custom graphic

Greetings,
I've followed all the relavent threads on X5world and the instructions, but I'm wondering about the boot graphic that is specific to the Mini.

If anyone has modified the graphic for the 2.7 update CD, please let me know.

Specifically, I'm grabbing the navboot file from path /V_2/RR/0101/BMWC01S/app_sw on the 2.7 CD. In GIFextractor, there is both a BMW and a MINI boot logo. The Mini logo is larger (400x240) than the BMW one (400x234) and all of the mod instructions list 234 as the correct logo height.
What image size did you use?
Am I using the correct navboot file?
Could I mod both the BMW and the Mini boot logos on the same 2.7 CD (can use same disk for both cars)?

Cheers!
Dave

This is the image I want to use for a boot logo:

I really like the custom splash screens as they're very cool.

However, I'd be careful about adding one if your MINI's nav system is still under warranty. A custom splash screen is a tell tale sign to the dealership (and MINI USA) that your nav system has been messed with (i.e. since it would obviously be running a hacked version of the firmware in order to get the custom splash screen).

It would give them a really easy way of denying warranty work on your nav system if something went wrong with it. I'm sure the chances of that are quite slim, but all the same, you should still keep that in mind before opting to install a hacked version of the firmware.

Just my $0.02...

mdsbrain, thanks, but that's one of the X5world articles I've already read and it does not offer any help for the Mini specific Nav boot logo size and location questions in my post above.

If anyone has changed the Nav boot logo for their Mini, please let me know if I'm the right track here. Otherwise, I'll wait another day or two and try the larger mini image size out in the typical location navboot file.

OfficeMaven, thank you for the words of caution. Hopefully I won't be regretting the mod/hack to the Mini or the BMW.

Cheers!

Well, I'm starting to believe that the Mini graphic can not be replaced with the current version of GIFextractor. I can very easily replace the BMW logo, but both a 400x234 or a 400x240 sized image for Mini boot graphic exchange get fubared when imported. GIFextractor shows error "ModuleLength doesn't fit! Cannot add image." I'm anxious to load v27, but really want a custom graphic first so I don't have to put the NAV into Euro mode to update it later.

I'll see if anyone on the X5world forums can offer help. I'll post again if I do get it working.
