R50/53 Any advice on stain removal?
Any advice on stain removal?
Here's another advice-seeking post...
On one of our many trips in Claire (http://claire.shankrabbit.com), I realized I forgot to put on my make-up before we left. This is usually not a difficult task as I have done this in several forms of transportation (cars, trains, buses) and never had a problem. However, due to her sports suspension (uh, I think that's what it's called. I'm a n00b to the Mini thing, so bear with me...), we hit a bump that caused my arm to go flying in the air...with a mascara wand grasped firmly in my hand. Fortunately, I didn't poke my eye out...unfortunately for Claire, I left a black spot on the interior roof fabric (once again, not sure what it's called...but I think you get it).
Now, I was just going to use good ol' makeup remover to get this small speck out - since it's no bigger than a pencil eraser. But I wanted to check with this community first. The make-up remover, for those that don't know, is oil-based. I know it will probably leave behind a small oil stain, but that would be better than the black spot that currently resides there.
Is there another product you recommend...that possibly won't leave behind a stain at all?
Thanks!

Okay, the headliner...blot it with a little bit of rubbiing alcohol on a cotton ball to loosen it up. Blot, do not scrub or rub, gently. When you have most of it removed, follow up with a general auto upholstery cleaner. This also works with ball point ink and most magic markers. If your headliner is light coloured, you may expect to see a shadow of a stain.
As a friendly side bar, girl to girl: Applying make-up and driving at the same time do not mix. Pull over or go without...you could put an eye out doing that (Oh God! Now I sound like my mom...) Mick

I should have made it more specific. I wasn't driving...I was the passenger. I wouldn't dream of putting on make-up while driving...I get distracted enough as it is. Thank you for the advice! My bf will be very happy to know that I'm finally going to get that spot cleared up.

YES A MAN PRIMPING...! I saw him driving behind me and he was frantically rubbing the top of his bald head with a white rag/towel. Then he was putting on (lip gloss, chap stick?) I began to slow down for the red light up ahead, tapping my brakes to get his attention.
So, okay, we stop, no problem. The light changes, we go, and I see him going through all this primping again. I got to the next light (red) and he is coming up fast!!
Quick judgement time! I took a look around, saw there was no one coming through the cross section and gunned it. He stopped where I was...didn't even looked up, just kept on primping. I stopped in the middle of the intersection and thought, "This ain't the best place to stop...better just keep on going and just explain myself if I get pulled over by a cop." So, I guess my imagination got the best of me when you mentioned make up in the car...sorry for jumping the gun.
