Tires, Service, and such

Thanks for helping me in advance -- I appreciate it!!

Linus (my MCC) just turned a year old last month. (Times really goes by fast!!) Well, I also just got a flat tire yesterday -- HUGE bummer!
Question -- do MINI dealerships and their service departments sell tires? It would make my life SUPER easy if I could make my yearly scheduled service appointment AND have my tire fixed. Please say it can be done!!! (I am actually going in early for my service appointment b/c I still have 3,000 miles still on my "counter", but it also been a year -- so I went with that)

Side note: I have always purchased my tires from Costco, so I have no clue what MINI does or doesn't do since I have only had mine for a year . . . please help a service novice!

Please let me know what to do and if it's possible. THANKS!!

Uhmm.... Why don't you just call the dealer and ask?

Anyway, my bet is that they do and will sell you a tire. You will probably pay a lot more than you would elsewhere, but they will probably do it for you.

I don't think the convenience of buying a tire at the dealer would offset the likely extreme cost of the tire, and getting it mounted and balanced..... at least not for most people.

All they are going to do is buy the tire at the same place you could buy it and jack the price way up. So the answer to "can it be done" is, as always, anything can be done with enough money!

The reason I didn't call the dealership, was that it was closed. My lovely MINI dealership is closed on Satrday and Sunday -- AAUGH!
I am having a heck of a time finding anyone that has the size tires available -- the dealership might be the only way to go.

How bizarre. I'd think that Saturday would be the #1 day for a dealership to be open, since a lot of people go for test drives on the weekend when they're not working.

Technically, it doesn't have to be an exact size match. There's a little bit of leeway, and the tire availability is actually a bit better in some of the other sizes that are close to the factory spec.

MINI2.com has an excellent FAQ on wheels and tires, and this section has a list of all the tire sizes that can be fitted to MINIs. Any of the "-17" sizes should work for you.

Hope this helps!
