Manitoba Ice Autocross
Manitoba Ice Autocross
Hi All!
There was an Ice Autocross event today in St. Malo and it was a great time! No experience is required and they are considering doing it again in 2 weeks. The cost is $15 for non WSCC members and $10 for members. We each had 5 runs and it was a fantastic way to spend a Sunday! EVERYONE IS WELCOME!!!!
There were a few minor bumps and scratches to some cars today but it's just like autocross with one car around at a time so any damages were really due to overagressive driving. This was my first time and it was a blast!
PM me if you'd be interesed in coming to the next one! We did great in our MINI and it really gives you an appreciation of what it can do in icy conditions.
EXAMPLE 1...what NOT to do! (WRX Tuned by Fasst....and missing many parts after today!

I'll be sure to post details if/once they confirm the date, location etc. of the next one. It's looking like it's going to happen!
It would be great if you and some other MB MINI drivers came down to participate and/or spectate! As I mentioned it is open to anyone and (unless you go into the snow banks which can be unpleasant) it's really not hard on the car at all. Don't worry about being slow either - everyone starts somewhere and some drivers are cautious and slow.
I've attached a link to one of my runs
(I think it was my first one) that will give you some idea of the course etc. If you'd like to see some other runs go to google video and enter "auto ice" and 6 of our run videos come up.

Okay it's confirmed!
There will another ice autocross next Sunday (February 26th) in St. malo, MB. Everyone ususally arrives at 9:30 am and the first cars run at 11am. The event goes for a few hours with each driver usually getting at least 4 "runs"! If you'd like to come out and watch spectators are also welcome and there are also the last Ice Races that weekend (for the WSCC Ice racers...insane group reaching crazy speeds and all out racing on the lake
)
If you would like more details please PM me and maybe we can arrange a coffee/breakfast meeting that morning and convoy out to St. Malo for the event.
Those who are interested dress warm - these events are largely volunteer driven so everyone helps out by taking a marshalling station when the other group of drivers is on the track (it'll be seperated into 2 groups).
I hope to see some of you out there!
