Where to put the antenna?

I'm installing XM into my MCS Convertible after I pick it up from the dealership. Anywho....I will probably just put the antenna ablove the right light like in previous posts....Do I have to do anyhting special to do this? Will the seal in the boot affect or pinch the antenna? Are there any pictures of this? Any ideas?

Thanks!!

I know on my MCS I put it behind the existing antenna, but on a MCSC I'm not totally sure. If you put it on the boot lid in the back how good of a reception would you get? I might try and snake it up to sit between the two cowl openings on the front side of the windshield. This is a hard item to place on a convertible, you may want to just try it in different locations before fitting it more permanently. Good luck and let us know where you place it.

As an aside I painted my gloss white to match my roof just so it didn't stick out too badly.

I rember hearing of some who had great reception from their dash, but I have the hardtop so can't really comment. There have been a few threads on this already so you may find what you are looking for if you do a search

I did a quick search, as suggested by Motor_On, and most convertible owners put it either on their dash or on the back quarter panels. My preference would be to put it on the dash. Just try and hide the wires if you can.

XM antenna on a MCSC

When you adjust the convertible boot for the most storage space, the rear portion of the hood can be lifted a few inches. I ran my XM antenna through that gap and placed the antenna on the rear quarter pannel. Return the hood and the boot to their normal settings. There is a kink in the antenna wire but the reception is good.

I've seen many people place their satellite antenna just below the windshield, between the wipers. Easy to run the wire to that spot as well.
