Yet another new one

Ron and Donna have ordered a 2006 S loaded. Delivery is unknown but is expected to be around 8-9 months. Something like waiting for a baby. We are 45th on the waiting list. Of the 45, 15 have opted to wait for a 2007. My question is if you had the choice how many of you would wait for an 07? 07 delivery, pricing, features etc are all unknown.

How come the wait is so long? I heard Mini was upping production speed and mine's even coming early. It's gonna be about 4 weeks from ordering to delivery.

Where are you? That wait time is unheard of on the east coast.

must have ordered it from Long Beach Mini. I would go for the 2006 since I wouldn't want a first year anything

Ditto, since 1st year model usually suffer more on quality issue, since lots of new parts involve. If that isn't your major concern, it is worth to wait for the 07.

I'm in northern VA. Ordered from Mini of Sterling. I was expecting it to be some time in mid to late March, but I called the dealer recently just for the production number and they gave me the VIN!

From the tone of most of the replies, you'd think an '07 would have things falling off the car every week. I applaud their good intentions, but I've seen no hard evidence posted anywhere that says the '07 will be problematic, people are just going by the generally accepted notion that cars early in the production cycle, on the average, tend to have more problems than cars later in the cycle. There's a saying I've heard long ago that goes something like, "There are lies, white lies, and then there's statistics." The point being that any car you buy at any time will have a certain likelihood of developing problems, it is true 2% is twice as much as 1%, but it's still low (fictitious numbers for illustration, but you get the idea).

Sorry for the long paragraph, it's still early for me.
