i have priced it out and after trade-in and downpayment, my payments would be around 360 with a 5 year loan.

Do you really want a Mini or do you want a MINI? Both are pretty cool, but the MINI is awsome, especially the S.

I feel everyone's pain, luckily for me my wait is almost over...well wait to order anyways. After many cheap meals, a few 80hr work weeks, worn out sneakers and lots of saving I'll have $11k to drop as a downpayment at the end of the month, and got confirmation on 3.9 apr through my employee credit union. So I'll still be able to afford an MCS when I have to pay the student loans back. Plus I just got a 13% raise today and my bonus coming in march will pay the insurance.

I'll be talking to a dealer in two weeks at a local car show and if all goes well order in 3 weeks . I started car shopping about 18 months ago though when it was going to cost more to replace my AC than my car was worth. And no AC for 18 months in FL is not very fun, but I kept my eye on the prize. The only thing I haven't decided on is what style of bonnet and boot stripes I want. You guys can do it too, just save your money. I recommend lots of tap water to quench your thirst and the cheap store brand mac and cheese, not that fancy Kraft stuff.

I am very blessed to come from a fairly well off family, but my Dad always told me that unless I grew up and I worked hard, and put in the time and effort, he was never going to buy me a car. At first this pissed me off, because, i admit, I am spoiled. but this past summer and into this year, I have worked and saved, and I paid about 1/3, he matched me, and traded in an old car for the car. Boy am i ever glad that he made me wait until I worked hard and earned it, what a rewarding feeling! I had sleep deprivation for about a month because I was so nervous about whether or not I would find the right one. After 3 Months OF OWNERSHIP TODAY I am still in denial that I can be the rightful owner to such an awesome machine. Believe me, the waiting is worth it, the car is worth it, and losing sleep is worth it. I hope you find an awesome job and you get some help from a higher power in taking a large step towards owning one. it is an experience that i can't say enough about, and I can't imagine driving any other car I would love nearly as much. Good luck, and I hope you experience what i just described in a VERY short time.

Chris

if you want it that bad, it means that it's in your price range.

price range. ...so, stop crying and land your real job!

yeah same here

I actually CAN afford one, but I am too cheap to buy one above MSRP. I've been on the waiting list since november. I have actually wanted a cooper S since they came out. I just never got around to driving one. I finally drove one last year, and I have been drooling over the car ever since.

Checkmate Cooper S here I come... I can't wait.

Over a year and a half ago I graduated and got my first big girl job. I can understand desperately wanting a MINI, I lived the pain! I looked and looked and looked and found an '02 MC with just over 9k on her (almost new!), still under warranty, for 15k. My dreams became reality. The car is STILL under warranty and will be until June! The moral of the story is, buy an affordable used MINI for now and THEN trade that in for your dream MCS in a few years. Why wait any longer?

I'm signing in...considering I don't have mine yet.
But, setting sail across the big pond tomorrow! Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
but i should rephrase that - makes it sound as if it takes a day to get here...no, it's more like 10-ish days

I know how you feel...I really wanted a MINI as long as I can remember, but no luck for years...This year, I decided I needed a new car, and it was going to be something I loved, so the MINI came to mind immediately. It ended up where my boyfriend and I had to move into a much cheaper apartment before I could afford it, but I LOVE my car, and I'm glad we moved too. It just took years for the dream to come true...hang in there.

Welcome to the real world of rent, utilities, groceries, etc. As nice as a new MCS is, you might want to reconsider your priorities, like maybe saving for the down payment on a place to live instead of a way to get to work. it's not as much fun but it works to your advantage in the long run.

On the other hand, it's a heckuva lot of fun driving to work in a MINI.

I'd really like to console you, but it took me till I was 51 to be able to justify buying my first Mini. Family and all don't ya know. So chin up, stiff upper lip and stop yer whining. If you work hard and save you'll have one in no time at all.

It took me 45 years to afford my first Harley and 49 years to get my MINI. I guess good things come to those who wait (and save).

That's just the gateway drug. Next comes a test drive and then even your family won't be able to reach you. When I test drove the MCS, I made sure to stay away from the JCW because I knew if I tasted that kind of power, I would need to get financing for an additional $6k.

Welcome to the Dark Side.

Gosh I want one so bad...but I am probably going to have to wait for the new model, and then have to wait probably a year or so after that so i dont get the first model year...But i feel your pain, I am in college and instead of waiting to save up, i got antsy and bought a VW instead...while I love my GTI, I still get butterfly's every time a MCS drives by, they are just sexy cars!!

The thing about Mini's are, you have to be patient. With a car that has such good resell value, you have to bite the bullet and pay what the market demands, which you can't do when your a poor college student. I was looking at a Mini from 02 on....then just out of college. Was waiting for the price to come down, but they just don't budge that much. I've almost had my 05 MCS for a year now, and I'm glad I waited. Bought it new (first new car for me), and even though I had to move my money around a little to afford it, I haven't regreted it one bit. Love the car and I'll have this for it's entire life, and I'm making payments just fine!! I'll buy a second one before I sell the one I have.

Last thing you want to do, is to rush into buying a Mini and have to sell it very soon after because you bought it when you weren't ready.
