Buttons sticking/"gummy"

Cheers,

If anyone has had a similar experience please post.

Suddenly and without provocation the preset buttons & scan buttons on my stereo as well as the A/C button & air recirculation button on my manual air distribution controls have begun to "stick".

I haven't spilled anything inside the car (and if I did It'd only be water). I was wondering if it could be the cold temperatures lately... Now don't laugh all you Eastern folk, but it's been really cold here in Santa Cruz, CA dropping as low as 48-F in the morning which is when I notice the buttons completely "stuck" / "frozen".

As I continue on my commute the buttons loosen up but become very "gummy" or "squishy" like I'm pressing them into clay or peanut butter!

Any thoughts?

Cheers for now!

Not on my MINI but on my Jeep I cleaned the center section with Armor All and the parts that were painted matte black became gummy as you describe.

On the MINI, I only clean the interior with MINI brand interior cleaner--that way, if I ever have a problem with the finish in there, I can go back to the dealer and get them to make it right.

If you haven't used Armor All, I'm guessing the oils from your fingers are wreaking havoc.
