DYNO Day-February 18th

The Hickory Chapter of M2C2 is sponsoring a Dyno Day on Saturday Feb. 18th in the Hickory area in conjunction with Tru Dyno Sports. For those of you unfamilier with this, it's where you get to strap your car to this dyno machine and find out how much actual hp you have going to your wheels as well as some other performance information. For additional information, check out their website at www.trudynosports.com.

So for you gearheads who have done a bunch of performance mods to your MINIs or for anyone simply wanting some specific performance info. about your car, this is your chance.

This will be a M2C2 MEMBERS-ONLY event and will be limited to the first 10 people who sign up on this post. The cost is $45 for 3 "pulls" with an additional $10 charge for wide band Air/Fuel Ratio information. These are special discount prices that they are giving us but we will need 10 cars to get them. We will meet about 9 am that morning at a designated location and motor over to Tru Dyno Sports and conclude about 4 pm. We will then go out to dinner at a local restaurant so it will be a full day of fun. Although limited to 10 actual participants, any M2C2 member who is interested in learning more about this process or simply wants to hang out and watch is welcome. I have been told they have plenty of room in their shop and plenty of parking for spectators.

The deadline to sign up is February 10th so if you are interested, sign up today by responding to this post! Slots are limited.

Directions to the meeting location will be posted later.

Dyno Day Sign-up List:

1) Eric Sipe
2) Dwayn Rhymer
3) Jon Adams
4) Moorlockx (Bob)
5) Roadodendron
6) Goldfinch2
7) Coopernicus (Robert)
8) bluesmini
9) Rafthos
10) Chris B.

** mininc (George) just hanging out

Put me down, though I'm willing to back out and open the slot for someone else if we go over the limit. All I'm going to find out is how much hp the car lost when the last software upgrade was done.

I would be up for a few dyno runs. Only problem is I am not a member. What do I need to do join?

I should be putting down 300whp without NO2 by the dyno day.

Spillman,

Go to M2C2.org, download an application, fill it out and send it in along with your money! We'd be glad to have you join us (pun intended)

Be sure to give us all a full report on the results of this . . . . could be VERY interesting. 10 cars on the same dyno on the same day is a pretty decent sample for comparison purposes..

As we discussed at lunch the other day Eric, snap off a spot for me as well. Unless God (or Wachovia ) prevents me from attending, I would like to be there to get a baseline on my BONEY-STOCK '06 JCW MCS.

The car should have ~2500-3000 miles on it by then - not really enough to assume it has fully broken-in, but it will have to do for now.

That will also give Goldfinch2 (and others) a chance to do some comparisons with a factory-installed JCW.

Thanks,
Robert

Got you down Robert. That leaves just 3 more slots (for those who are counting). I will be posting directions to the meeting location on 2/18 and times next week so be watching for that information.

Eric-

Just wondering - Will we all need to meet at the same time (9AM) up in Hickory?

I only ask because I would have to get a very early start since I live well South of Charlotte...

Hey if you have room, please put down Rafthos, my husband's login. We would like to get our Mini S tested. Sounds like a lot of fun! Thanks, Morgan

I was actually just talking to Eric about this. I'm going to be getting up there late myself. I would have to leave the house at 5:30 to be on time. If you go to the shops' website, www.TruDynoSports.com , you'll find a map directly to the shop, and contact info, there.

George, look forward to having you join us!!!

Morgan, I've got you down.

Robert, yes the plan is for everyone to meet at 9:30 and drive over to the shop together. George K. is driving up from Charlotte. Maybe you could hook up and come up together. Or, you can do what Bob is doing and arrive on your own. However, I am thinking that they would prefer us to all arrive at the same time to sign us up, sign waivers, etc. together if possible. And, I think it would be more fun that way.

Specific directions will be posted tomorrow.

Eric

Eric - Yeah, that might work.

George and anyone else that wants to posse-up -

We could find a place in Charlotte to meet for a 'Mini Road Trip' if you would like. Unless you live north of Charlotte, the easiest/quickest route to Hickory is probably Highway 321 from Gastonia.

Any takers?

I think you are correct. Take hwy. 321 N all the way to I-40 in Hickory. Get on I-40 East and the directions I will post tomorrow will be from I-40.

DIRECTIONS FOR DYNO-DAY:

We are meeting at the Clark Tire (Goodyear) store in Newton at 9:30. We will leave from there about 9:45 to motor over to Tru-Dyno Sports.

From I-40, take exit 133 (Rock Barn Rd.). If you are heading east on 40, turn right at the end of the exit ramp. If you are heading west, turn left. Go approx. 2.7 miles to the intersection of hwy. 70 and 321. Get into the left-hand turn lane. There will be a Bojangles restaurant on the oppoisite corner to your left. Turn left onto business hwy. 321 south and go approx. .9 miles. Clark Tire will be on your left.

From hwy 321 coming up from Gastonia, take exit 33 (Startown Rd.) and turn right at the end of the exit ramp. Go approx. 5 miles to the traffic light at the intersection with hwy 10. (There will be an Exxon/Subway station on your right). Turn right onto hwy 10 and go approx. 3 miles to the intersection with business hwy 321. (There will be a Prime Sirloin on the left and a BP station on the right.) Turn left onto business hwy 321 north and go 3-4 miles. Clark Tire will be on the right just past an Auto Zone on the right.

After everyone has had their turn on the dyno machine, we will be going out for an early dinner (about 4:00). The restaurant we'll be going to is right on I-40 so it'll be easy for folks from out of town to get back to where they need to go.

For anyone who is interested in meeting for breakfast, I will be at the Bojangles mentioned above by 8:15. Please join me. If you have any problems or get lost, my cell # is 828-310-9100. I look forward to seeing everyone on the 18th. It's going to be a fun day.

I am planning on bringing some drinks and snacks for the Dyno Day on Saturday. I have checked with the folks there and was told this is not a problem. If you guys want to also bring some things, soft drinks, chips, crakers, etc., that would be good. See you on Saturday.

BTW, all slots are now officially filled!!!! If anyone else wants to join in, let me know and I'll start a "waiting list".

Eric
