Navigation & Audio Standard CD to CD/MP3
I know that Alpine makes an MP3/CD changer with the same dimensions as the stock CD changer in the Mini. My question is will it just plug in? Does it use the same harness? Will the track data read out on the head unit? I wanted to see if ya'll had the answer before I spend a week trying to contact Alpine.
Thanks,
Frank

R-Speed sells an adpter module that makes this possible. You can use the Alpine box and Mini head unit.
I haven't heard of the MP3 portion of the changer working with the stock head unit, but then again... what do I know.
Give R-Speed a call. They are very nice people.

The Alpine s-634 will work with the stock head unit. It requires a Blitzsafe adaptor and an AI-Net to Mbus adaptor. About a 30 minute install.
The mp3 data is not displayed in the head unit. It only displays track numbers from 1-99. If a CD has over 100 mp3s, the unit starts over at 1 again.

In the interest of displaying MP3 tags (and not using Blitzsafe if you can put up with FM modulators) has anyone tried Alpine's CRA-1667RF? I looks to be a good remote display that works with the S634. Otherwise, any other options for showing the track info *and* keeping the MFSW?
