After 2 1/2 years of perfection, MINI got bashed in a parking lot today

My luck with MINI ran out today. I had a Dr.'s appointment at 3:00 pm and since it was a beautiful, warm, sunny day, I decided to drive my 03 MC to the clinic. Knowing the parking lot at the clinic could be a hazardous place, I carefully parked in the lot of the nearby building, where there were few cars on the lot. Picking a spot with no cars on either side for about eight or so spots, and it being a time when the lot was likely to have people leaving, not coming in, I felt safe, looked back at MINI and proceeded to the clinic. After about 30 minutes of waiting I was paged to the main reception desk at the clinic. The female voice on the phone asked, "do you drive a MINI Cooper?" I said yes, thinking from the sound of her voice that the news was not going to be good. She said, "I've ran into your car in the parking lot".

I hurried out to the lot and found a local policeman and a young female standing near my car. She said she was sorry. I looked at MINI and saw a damaged drivers door, and an area about a foot long behind the drivers door dented and scraped, from the impact with the POS, (excuse me), car she was driving. She said she left the Eagle Talon in gear and put the brake on and it still rolled down the slight incline into my baby.
She gave me her name and address and the name of her insurance company. The cop said an incident report would be on file at the station.

I went back in the clinic and resumed waiting, having lost my place in the "work-in" line I waited another 30 minutes or so and got to see the DR.

In a short period of time my perfect, (not even a door peck), 03 MC with less than 7,000 miles sustained $2,000 worth of damage and I received a prostate exam. Talk about a bad day.

I did go by my favorite body shop and get an estimate. It was a few bucks less than $2,000.

I have never done this before, but I intend to ask her insurance company for, "loss of value", compensation, in addition to getting my car fixed. I checked Kelly Blue Book for Private Party value for my car and it was $18,315 in excellent condition. I checked, "less than $3,000 worth of paint or body work," and this reduced the condition to good and the value to $17,260. I plan to ask for the $1045 difference as loss of value compensation.

Anyone familiar with loss of value compensation and/or have you had any luck getting this from an insurance company?

Sorry to be so long, thanks for listening.

Ack! Very sorry to hear of this. When someone smacked me in a parking lot, they didn't own up to it, so I don't have experience dealing with other people's insurance companies.
