I noticed on the last model (not the newest) M3 that their mirrors looks strikingly similar to that of the Coopers. Does anyone know if:

A) it might be cheaper from BWM
B) does it fit on late model MINI's?

Don't want to reinvent the wheel, but if it was cheaper and fits, might be a way to get the self dimming feature cheaper...

 

from what I understand, you can fit any Gentex auto dimming
mirror with or without compass on any car as long as you can
physically attach it to the winshield and power it.

you can even get ones with the homelink feature too.

It might take a little bit of work, but they should all fit.

 

I want one with the Compass in it

 

I can't imagine any M3 part being cheaper than its MINI counterpart.

LOL! I said the same thing... When JerseyGirl bought her MCS, she looked at the aftermarket and was like, "Cool... I can actually mod this car... stuff is actually affordable compared to the M3!! "

The M3's "mods" were a set of Bilstein shocks and Z3 RSM reinforcement plates. Oh yeah... and the upgraded "metal impeller" water pump... Oooo...

 

I think the Auto dimming mirror on my past CHRYSLER 300M had a better one than the MINI.
I wonder if I could retrofit???
